Minister’s Message
“Greetings To All”
This newsletter is proof that Autumn schedule starts in September and makes a fast sprint to Christmas!
Every week seems chock-a-block full of faith in action and action in faith. This congregation has a deep faith that leads to many opportunities for us to reach out beyond the church walls into the community and the world sharing God’s love and compassion.
The beauty and harvest of the season inspires us to respond in gratitude as people greatly blessed. As we are blessed so we bless others.
We gather in fellowship to share peace and joy, feeding our bodies and souls then taking that fulfillment to serve God and God’s people.
Come and join us as we seek to bring hope and help in this chaotic world, in these challenging times.
Blessings,
Rev. Steph

Please contact Ron Morgan for more information.
Church Finances
It is always important that you give financially to your church on a regular basis. It is only by doing so that the church is able to keep its worthwhile ministry alive within our community. With all of the turmoil in our world, country, province and community, it is often the church that people turn to for support and reflection. With increasing costs, it is becoming more difficult to maintain our physical structures. It is also our goal to become even more involved with helping our neighbours as evidenced by our Christmas Hampers, our donation to the Fire Department and our collection of items for children at our local school. Remember, this is YOUR church and it exists for and because of you. We don’t ask you to give beyond your means! Rather, give what you can with a cheerful heart!
Church Website/Facebook
Stay connected to the life and work of our congregation by accessing the church website. Sunday bulletins, weekly meetings, donations and other announcements are regularly updated.

American Sign Language Class
American Sign Language Class 8-9:30 PM Wednesdays. We are excited about joining an online immersion class from Gallaudet University - the only university for the Deaf in the world. It is a beginner level program. Call Rev. Steph for more information or to join us.
Our Labyrinth
Meditative Walking on The Labyrinth at the Manse on Tuesdays at 11:00 am. and Thursdays at 4:30 pm.
During inclement weather we’ll walk at the church.
A labyrinth is an ancient symbol of wholeness and a pilgrimage of faith. It is different than a maze in which one must always be choosing to go one way or another to try and figure out a way through . When attending to the path of a labyrinth, one cannot get lost and no decisions are needed to implement the journey except for the first one to begin walking. Labyrinths represents a journey or path to our own center where we might find a closer relationship to God. And then we turn back again into the world having spent time listening, praying and being led by the Spirit. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools.
“Trunk or Treat”
October 31st between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.
Trunk or Treat is the idea that a group of cars (and their drivers of course) with decorated trunks and cars gather on the manse parking lot, and kids go from car to car for treats, and other Halloween fun rather than going to individual homes. This is a great idea for people who purchase Halloween treats and have very few “trick or treaters”. Anyone wanting to participate, please contact Rev. Steph or Ron/Lynda to reserve a spot. You do not have to belong to the United Church to participate!!!

50 km Yard Sale
Our church participated in the 50 km yard sale on Saturday, Sept 7th. Thank you to everyone for your support. We exceeded our expectations in raising almost $1,400.00 for the Building Fund.
School Supplies
During the month of August, Heritage United Church collected donations of school items such as book-bags, exercise books and pencils for distribution to children who sometimes can't afford to purchase the items they need to make the school year less stressful. The items have been shared between Anthony Paddon Elementary and Heritage Collegiate. Thank you for supporting this important outreach of our church!

Baby Shower for Jesus!
You are invited to our Baby Shower for Jesus!
On Saturday, November 29th from 2:00 - 4:00pm, the UCW invites all women from the church and community to join us for “Jesus’ Baby Shower”. We will have a gift exchange for our Christmas fun, but the gifts we bring will be baby items that we can then donate to the Cara House Women’s Shelter in Gander.
Purposeful Acts of Kindness
This year during Advent, we are going to create a soft, warm manger for Jesus. Throughout the Advent season, we will commit purposeful acts of kindness to line the manger with love and compassion. For each act of compassion, we will place a strip of fabric into the manger creating a world that is a little bit softer, warmer and more caring. Find your fabric, do your act(s) of kindness and bring your piece of fabric to place in the manger joining us in joyful anticipation as we celebrate hope, peace, joy and love!
