I come to the garden alone
while the dew is still on the roses,
and the voice I hear falling on my ear
the Son of God discloses.

And he walks with me, and he talks with me,
and he tells me I am his own;
and the joy we share as we tarry there,

Leader: When we are alone, God is our comforter.

All: When we have nothing, God is our everything.

Opening Prayer: (Together)

Opening Hymn "What A Friend We Have In Jesus"  

What a friend we have in Jesus,

all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry

everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged;

take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful,

who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness;

Scripture: Responsive Psalm 85: 8-13

Once you were gracious to your land, O God,

you restored the fortunes of Jacob;

you forgave the offence of your people,

and pardoned all their sin.

You drew back all your displeasure,

and turned from your fiery wrath.

Restore us again, God our Saviour,

and put away your just anger toward us.

Will you be angry with us forever?

Will you prolong your wrath to all generations?

Will you not revive us again,

that your people may rejoice in you?

Let me hear what you will say, O God,

for you will speak peace to your people,

to the faithful who turn their hearts to you.

Surely salvation is near those who fear you,

Mercy and faithfulness will meet,

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?

When the clouds unfold their wings of strife,

when the strong tides lift and the cables strain,

will your anchor drift or firm remain?

Refrain We have an anchor that keeps the soul
