Hellaby is a relatively quiet Hamlet situated on the outskirts of Rotherham Town centre. Despite having no school, church, post office or general shops the residents have access to many facilities. It comprises of nine streets and the A631 main road within its boundary.

The hamlet is fortunate to be surrounded by mainly open rural countryside where arable farming is the main source of agriculture.

The Community Group is responsible for creating a monthly Newsletter and organising a variety of social activities/functions.

There is a well used community hall which is available for individuals or groups to hire out, this facility is not exclusive to the residents but to anyone wishing to make use of its facilities.

Hellaby is steeped in history and its origin can be traced back with entries found in the Doomsday Book.
