Robert Bage b.11.3.1730, papermaker, Quaker, had 4 or 5 children. The first son was Charles Wooley Bage, married Ann Harding, daughter of William Quartus Harding. Mary, the daughter of another son, Edward, married Samuel Tuffley Harding, son of William Quartus Harding.
Robert Bage was a novelist and a close friend of John Whitehurst and Erasmus Darwin of the original Lunar Society. He learnt his trade at Darley Abbey Paper Mill near Derby, owned by the Quaker family of Evans. He married Elizabeth Woolley an innkeeper’s daughter. They lived at St Chad's Shrewsbury.

Charles Woolley Bage, one of Robert Bage's sons designed the iron-beamed mill, Ditherington Flax Mill near Shrewsbury in 1797. In 2013 a £12.8m grant of Lottery money given for regeneration it being described as the oldest iron-framed building in the world, and considered by English Heritage to be one of the most important industrial buildings in the country. Such is their interest in the site, English Heritage acquired the buildings in 2005. This report in the local Shropshire Star provides pictures and is followed by over 50 comments suggesting considerable local interest.

He assured Alexander that two weeks’ rest for his throat trouble before an important recital engagement was all that was needed It was the failure of this advice which led Alexander on to develop the Alexander Technique.
