The Big Build

Our very old prefabricated building, which has been on the site of Polehampton Infant School since 1983, is costly to maintain.

We recently needed £3,000 to repair the toilets. And we'll soon need another £3,000 to repair the kitchen floor and walls.

Our ongoing BIG BUILD fundraising project aims to raise enough money to cover essential refurbishments, and continuously improve the environment for our children.

The Happy Hours committee kickstarted BIG BUILD fundraising back in 2013, with a community Family Fun Day. We've since organised some awesome one-off events, including a live band night, a bingo night, and our 50th-anniversary garden party. And we always have a presence at the annual Twyford Christmas Fair, Twyford Fun Run and Donkey Derby. All supplemented by those trusty cake sales.

Happy Hours Pre-school has been serving the local community and caring for children

since 1968. If you've lived in or around Twyford for any length of time there's every chance you'll know someone who has been nurtured and cared for by one of the dedicated staff there. This is a team who have worked tirelessly over the years to create a stimulating, warm and secure environment for the children – our children.

The current building opened in 1983 - think about how much you have changed (and aged) in almost 40 years. Our building has an uncertain lifespan but the staff and committee are determined to continue the long legacy of this wonderful pre-school and guarantee a bright future.

If you have any memories or photographs from Happy Hours Pre-school or feel that you can help our BIG BUILD cause in any way, we'd love to hear from you. Contact Kate at
