I have been in The Amsterdam Olympic Stadium multiple times. Of course not during the Amsterdam Olympics of 1928. But still nowadays it is impressive and the sport vibe of the Olympic spirit (Olympische gedachte) is still there. I have been there for one of my studies, work and in my spare time. The Amsterdam Olympic Stadium is situated in Southern part of Amsterdam and can be visited to be impressed with the Olympic history of it.
At Hes Amsterdam I had sports as a course. Sports were on the program in all semesters except the two internship semesters. The course was given to teach students about networking while playing sports, watching sports and talking about sports. During these sports courses I became acquainted with many sports, their rules and also how I and my fellow students reacted while practicing a sport. During my 4 years at Hes Amsterdam (2000-2004) I was able to try out many sports. I had an athletic lesson in the Olympic Stadium.
In 2014 during the Amsterdam Marathon running event day I surveyed the visitors and the Amsterdam Marathon participants in all running categories. I did this gig for Inview as an entrepreneur. Before the start and during the race I surveyed the visitors around the Stadium. After the big names came in I was sent to interview a few of the international stars participating in the part where visitors weren't allowed and the sporters could catch their breath, see their family, before changing, picking up their belongings or leave. Me and my colleagues fieldworkers also interviewed the sporters and their guests in the Vip part where there were snacks and drinks for the invited sporters. I got one of the people I surveyed through my psychologist who was also part of the Amsterdam Marathon.
Besides hiking big name routes I also participate in organized walks. In 2023 I hiked the 33 km route of the Amsterdam Marathon, hiking edition. The hiking event is on another day then the running event. The hiking event also starts and finishes in the Olympic Stadium of Amsterdam. It is a very busy event, but fun to walk through Amsterdam. Also the start and finish in the Olympic Stadium gives the hike something extra, the Olympic spirit (Olympische gedachte).
*Hogeschool Economische Studies Amsterdam ( HES Amsterdam) merged in 2004. I graduated in the summer of 2004, before the merger.
