First published as a Haiku Canada Sheet, a trifold included with Haiku Canada Newsletter XV:3, June 2002. Written at the 2001 Haiku Canada weekend in Kingston, Ontario. My “startling naked lovers” verse was originally printed incorrectly, with “the moon” instead of what I intended, which was “the moo.” I meant that the lovers were startled by a cow. That’s much more interesting, and funnier. See “Typos Happen!”
