Bits &Pieces GNN ‘62

Issue #9, April 2010 ~ June 2010

FROM Roberta Rothstein Hammond

Quick catch up. I have been living in Scottsdale/Phoenix AZ for the past 14 years. Have two awesome sons and 6 grandchildren. Playing golf and enjoying my life with my partner Jim. Life is good.

FROM Kathy Feldblum Hoey

I too am still working.

I worked for Swissair for 27 years.

They made me an offer I couldn’t refuse and did an early retirement in 2000.

Now I am working for Herricks Schools in the Special Ed Office since 2004 and loving it.

I will most likely pack it in July 2014, when I hit 10 years at Herricks, but that also depends on the economy and my retirement accounts :)

FROM Ellen Weiss Wolfer

Lived in Miami for 32 years and moved up to Tampa (what a difference) six years ago to be with my daughter Jaime, husband and two grandchildren Savannah (4 yrs)

and Blake (2 yrs). I bought a home around the corner from them so we spend a lot of together. I spent eighteen years in the Florida school system and retired four years

ago allowing me to travel more and visit my son Adam and his family in Virginia and my son Mike in New Jersey. Fortunately, Orlando is only 45 minutes away so when they visit me we spend a good deal of time there. I love the southwestern decor so a friend and I often travel to Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico where we love to shop. I consider myself very fortunate but cannot believe how quickly time goes by.

We were delighted with this article about our daughter Sheryl in the May issue of Vogue Magazine and want to share it with you.

Jane Brody, in the Science Times, May 18th, recommended”The Comfort Book " (Tallfellow Press). A total surprise.

Way Cool!

FROM Bonne Pittman Shyamala Littlefield

Here's my updated info and some news to share.

Mac and I moved in 2004 to California. My address:

5843 Fremont Street

Oakland, California 94608

[510] 594 - 1585

We love it here! My husband is from California so when we were ready to move on from 5 months of winter in the Catskill Mountains where we had been living for 25 years, California is where we were most at home with family and friends.

I continue to design for and run my two businesses on line - 4LeggedDesigns.com for eco-friendly pet products and ShyamalaDesigns.com for jewelry for "2 leggeds” And I'm just beginning a new enterprise marrying folks in my lovely garden - or anywhere that they'd like. You can read about it at www.CeremoniesForSacredDays.com. You'll see that the name everyone calls me is Shyamala which is a name I received while studying in India about 35 years ago and it has stuck. I do a lot of spelling ["What did you say your name is?"} but, after all these years, I do wonder who they mean when someone calls me Bonnie! I'm still close friends with Wendy Apple and recently connected with Jimmy Grauer on Facebook - we're planning on getting together soon - and with Larry Langner. It would be fun to hear from anyone else on Facebook or who lives in the Bay Area. Love to all!

FROM Bobbi Breslow Berlin

I'm enjoying my life......transitioning between work and retirement. I've been selling real estate for the past 25 years, and the way the market is. it might be time for me to call it a day. Love to travel....last trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Absolutely fabulous.....not the same Vietnam as the 60's. Hanoi is very much a city with a totally western feel.. Hope to go to Africa next winter. Other than my five wonderful grandchildren, I am an avid bridge player and a happy golfer, even if I'm not very good.

FROM Douglas Garcia

My wife, Mary Beth (nee Hudson), and I travel full time in a motor home since April '06, and we have traveled to Alaska during the Summer of '08. We are spending this Summer in the Northwest, currently in Northern California.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your news. Don’t forget to let me know if you’d like to be on the 50th Reunion committee and your choice of venue.

Keep sending your news. Bits&Pieces is somewhat like Mad Magazine: “All the news that fits we print.” When there is enough news, I send out the newsletter.
