FROM Jerry Goldman

My wife Paula, that is my first wife Paula, and I have been retired in McCormick, SC since November of 1999 and loving it. We golf, we sing we are involved in politics and three book clubs.

When we came down here, none of our three daughters were married and since then they have all married and since 2005 they have produced six grandchildren, three boys and three girls in three states, Louisiana, Texas and Massachusetts. We spend a lot of time traveling to celebrate birthdays.

My daughter, Ginny, has been in Houston about 6 years and was the Head Organizer for Texas ACORN. Due to the recent problems that ACORN had nationally, she formed a new organization, Texas Organizing Project (TOP).

She is in Houston now.

We don't get back to New York too often, but I would be interested in your plans for a 50th reunion.

No real news, just, I am 66 still working and receiving social security, and keep in touch with Clarke Olsen from the class of '62, who lives 35 miles southeast of Albany, NY.

My wife and I just returned from our annual two week vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Although I am in good health I am beginning to contemplate retirement next year.

From Adele Einhorn Sandberg

The (Most Powerful) Working Mom of the Year 2010

Working Mother magazine this month named Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO, the most powerful working mother of the year. Right behind her were Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Pepsico Chairman and CEO, Indra Nooyi, MIT President Susan Hockfield, tennis star Kim Clijsters, Brigadier General Michelle Johnson, and a few other extraordinary women. Michelle Obama, who works all the time at her unpaid job, was on the short list. Sarah Palin, thankfully, was not.

Like all end-of-the year lists, the Working Mother list is somewhat arbitrary. But these women are all, undoubtedly, "major power players" whose accomplishments are also, as Working Mother requires, "societal contributions." And, because all of them reside in the U.S. and have at least one kid 18 or younger, they qualify for Working Mother's power posse. (Some of them just squeak by, though. Nooyi's youngest child is 17 and Hockfield's daughter is 18.)

My wife Caren and I are proud to announce the birth of our first grandchild, Luke William Geller, who was born on December 4. 2010.

Luke resides in Manhattan with his parents Brooke and Jeremy Geller. I love hearing about the GNN news and would certainly try to be at any reunion.

From Carol Steinhardt Vadnai

Our son had his second daughter, Willa, and our third grandchild, in Sept. We continue to split our time between Westchester and Brooklyn, where both our son and daughter live with their families. Fully retired now, our days are filled with babysitting, volunteering and lots of social activities with friends. Life is good!

From Pamela Wiener Beck

My daughter had identical twin girls 12/15, weighing in at 6 lbs. each.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your news. Don’t forget to let me know if you’d like to be on the 50th Reunion committee and your choice of venue.

Keep sending your news. Bits&Pieces is somewhat like Mad Magazine: “All the news that fits we print.” When there is enough news, I send out the newsletter.

All the best,

Peggy
