Henry Meier

12/2/2011 Since I have lost complete contact with anything or anyone from high school until now I thought that I would send a paragraph that summed up what has happened during my venture on this planet. Since I do venture to NYC from Baltimore to see my new grandson, I would like to learn about how my classmates have evolved.

Henry

Dr. Henry Louis Meier was born at an early age. Upon birth he was heavy for his weight and short for his height. His childhood was spent traveling around the east coast of the USA being chased from one state to another in the accompaniment of his parent (yes he did have them) Benjamin and Reva and his brother Jack. He graduated Great Neck Senior High School (much to the surprise of many) in New York. He then made it out of the University of Maryland with a BS degree in Chemistry, Long Island University with More of the Same degree (MS) in Physical Chemistry, and Georgetown University with Piled Higher and Deeper degree (Ph. D.) in Biophysical Chemistry. He made it out of all these programs without them having to burn down any of the schools. While getting his Ph. D. he worked at NIH in the National Institute in Allergy and Infectious Disease studying allergy and hematology. He then wandered over to the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where as an Assistant Professor he completed two postdoctoral programs (1. Clinical Immunology and 2. Pulmonary Medicine). He was then exiled to Edgewood Arsenal to begin a 30 year sentence at USAMRICD. During this interesting life Henry was married to his ex, Dr Harriet Meier and he has 3 great offspring, Benjamin (law professor), Avrum (eye doctor), and Adena (speech pathologist) as a result of that failed experience. Adena has given him one beautiful grand son (8 months old)

Henry is a Ravens maniac, a science fiction nut, has a punny sense of humor and is a pack rat. When not at work or asleep in front of the TV he is out and about looking for glassware and other junk at yard sale and flea markets. He does his best to enjoy life and women. He plans to retire and do a lot of traveling once he has found the right travel partner.

Rima Gitlin Faber

January 1, 2012 - In October I was asked to Chair the Dance Task Force to create national standards for dance education, a project of the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards. We are developing the next generation of arts standards for the art forms of dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts. The Coalition is a partnership of the five national arts organizations (National Dance Education Organization, National Art Education Association, National Association for Music Education, American Alliance for Theatre and Education, and Educational Theatre Association), the State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (the Director for Arts from each State Department of Education), the Arts Education Partnership, and The College Board. In 1997 I received my Ph.D. in Education Administration and wrote my dissertation on the creation of Standards for Dance Education which were accepted by the U.S. Department of Education in 1994. It launched me into working on a national level. However, I still love teaching young children...especially my granddaughters! Rima Faber, Ph.D.

January 14, 2012 Sorry to learn there is a 2/1/12 (Groundhog's Day Eve) deadline. My retirement lifestyle consists of traveling full time in a motor home since April 2006. We have been to 49 of the 50 states in our motor home (except Hawaii) and have enjoyed the experience. This year we plan to do the coastal USA from Padre Island, TX to Maine, and then across the Northern tier to Washington, then South to California. Therefore we can't be sure we will be in Great Neck in time for the reunion. So I will change my maybe to a no, but we will try to be there to see the class if the reunion is held.

Here I am as a mall Santa this year. ...............Doug Garcia
