Being a room parent is a terrific way to get involved in your child’s classroom, get to know your child’s teacher, and be an integral part of the school community. As the room parent, you will be the liaison between the teacher and the parents in your child’s classroom. You will be asked to help coordinate some activities and aid in the communication process.
But you are thinking....Isn’t that a lot of work for one person?
Not as much as you think. You will be involved in helping coordinate a few activities that require supplies or volunteers. You’ll do things like:
Send email reminders to the parents about special events at school
Coordinate holiday gifts or other surprises for the teachers
Coordinate the Spring Fair game booth for your classroom
Room parents sometimes decide to do much more, like organize get-togethers for the kids or parents. But it’s up to you…
Scared to go at it alone?
Go ahead and say yes… and when you find out which class you are in, recruit a friend and ask them to work with you as a co-room parent. This is a great way to share the responsibilities!
But it’s the summer, why sign up now?
The beginning of the year is the most crucial time for getting the word out about activities and events at Glenwood Elementary. With your help, we can hit the ground running and start the year off right!
Go on... you know you want to.... sign up here!
