We are seeking nominations for two parents to serve on Glenwood’s School Improvement Team (SIT). If more than two nominations are received, an election will be held from Friday April 24 – May 4.
The SIT is made up of five parents, five Glenwood staff members, and the Principal. The five parent members are each elected for terms lasting two years. The two open SIT positions will run from May 2015 – May 2017. Nominees will need to have children in the school for that time period.
If you are interested in taking on this role, or in nominating someone else for this role, please fill out and return this nomination form to the school office by end of the school day, Tuesday April 21. Voting forms will be sent home from school on Friday of that week.
For more information on the SIT’s role, and current parent members, see below.

I am a mother of a third grader in the dual language program. You may know me as a coach for YMCA soccer and basketball. Professionally, I work for Duke University as a research Nurse. My goal is to listen and assist to continue to improve Glenwood.

I am a parent of a first-grader in the dual-language program. I also work for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools as the Principal of Smith Middle School. My wife is a teacher of English Language Learners at Glenwood. We are very happy to be part of the Glenwood family as parents and professionals. I joined the SIT in the hope that my experience as a principal at both the middle and elementary school levels could help support Dr. Ryan and the staff at Glenwood as they work to provide excellent instruction and a supportive school environment to all of the students who attend Glenwood.

I am originally from England and have lived in the US on and off for 12 years. The first two thirds of my professional career were spent in international non profit management; for the last seven years I have run an internal communications function for a big European bank. Since moving to Chapel Hill nearly six years ago, I have done that job from my home, which is within walking distance of Glenwood. My daughter, Rose Harrill, is in third grade, and also attends the wonderful Glenwood After School program. I am also on the Glenwood PTA board.
Please feel free to contact any of the three continuing parent members on the email addresses listed for more information about the role of the SIT and the level of commitment required as a parent member.
