María Celia García-Álvarez-Coque was born in Mexico City. In 1971, she moved with her family to Spain. She obtained her PhD degree in 1980 with award. Since 1997, she is Full Professor at the University of Valencia (Spain), where she has taught degree and post-degree courses during 40 years, mainly on fundamental topics in Analytical Chemistry. In 1986–1987, she made a post-doc stay at the University of Florida in Gainesville (USA) with Prof. James Winefordner. She has written around 300 research articles, most focusing on HPLC, particularly on fundamental studies, secondary equilibria, and development of analytical methods for pharmaceutical and clinical samples. She has supervised the PhD. thesis of 26 students from several countries, is coauthor of the books Micellar Liquid Chromatography (with Prof. Alain Berthod) and Chemometrics (with Prof. Guillermo Ramis), and has belonged to the editorial boards of Journal of Chromatography A, Analytical Chimica Acta, Separation and Purification Reviews and Current Chromatography. Her hobby is piano playing, especially Chopin and Debussy.

 

Juan José Baeza-Baeza was born in Valencia (Spain). He obtained his PhD from the University of Valencia in 1991 wih award, under the supervision of Prof. Guillermo Ramis-Ramos and Carlos Mongay-Fernández. In 1992-1993, he was granted with a post-doctorate fellowship at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oklahoma (USA) under the supervision of Prof. Horacio Mottola. Until 1996, he was Associate Professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Valencia (Spain), and since then Professor at this university, where he has taught degree and post-degree courses, mainly on fundamental topics in Analytical Chemistry. He has also occupied administrative positions and belonged to several academic commisions at the University of Valencia. He has written over 70 research articles and chapters, most focusing on Chemometrics, related to chemical kinetics, modelling and optimisation in HPLC, and the development of methods to extract the potential information contained in chromatographic signals. He is fond of Politics analysis and Economics.


José Ramón Torres-Lapasió was born in Valencia (Spain). He obtained her PhD from the University of Valencia in 1996 wih award, under the supervision of Prof. García-Álvarez-Coque and Juan José Baeza. As post-doc, he worked as senior researcher with Guillermo Ramis-Ramos (University of Valencia, Spain, 1996–1997), Víctor Cerdá (University of Balearic Islands, Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 1997), and Desiré Luc Massart (Pharmaceutical Institute, Vrije Universiteit, Brussels, Belgium, 1997–1998). IN 1998-2000, he was Associate Professor at the University of Navarra (Spain), and in 2001-2006, he was awarded with a Ramón y Cajal research position in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Valencia, where he is Professor since 2006. He has written more than 120 research articles, most focusing on fundamental studies, modelling and optimisation in HPLC, and the development of chemometrical methods to extract the potential information contained in chromatographic signals. He is author of several software for signal processing and optimisation. He is fond of Astronomy.




Samuel Carda-Broch was born in Villarreal (Castellón, Spain). He obtained his PhD from the University of Valencia in 1999 with award, under the supervision of Prof. García-Álvarez-Coque (University of Valencia) and Prof. Josep Esteve-Romero (University Jaume I). After working in the pharmaceutical industry (Italfármaco, Madrid, Spain) in 2000, in 2001 he moved to the Laboratoire des Sciences Analytiques at the University Claude Bernard in Lyon (France) for a post‑doctorate stay under the supervision of Dr. Alain Berthod, granted by a Marie Curie fellowship. In 2002, he moved to the Department of Chemistry of the Iowa State University in Ames (USA), together with Prof. Alain Berthod to work with Prof. Daniel Armstrong. After over six years as Associate Professor in the University Jaume I in Castellón (Spain), where he has collaborated with Prof. Josep Esteve, he is Professor since 2009. He has written more than 120 research articles, most on the field of applied analysis, with a main focus on micellar liquid chromatography. His has also made outstanding contributions in countercurrent chromatography and the use of ionic liquids in chemical analysis. He is coauthor of the book Ionic Liquids: New Insights and Recent Developments from Elsevier (with María José Ruiz). He is fond of football, especially the Villarreal team.


María José Ruiz-Ángel was born in Valencia (Spain). She obtained her PhD from the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2003 with award, under the supervision of Prof. García-Álvarez-Coque and Prof. Ernesto Simó-Alfonso. In 2003-2004, she worked as research technician in the Central Instrumentation Service at the University Jaume I in Castellón (Spain). In 2004- 2006, she was granted with a post-doctorate fellowship in the Laboratoire des Sciences Analytiques at the University Claude Bernard in Lyon (France) under the supervision of Prof. Alain Berthod. In 2007-2008, she was awarded with a Ramón y Cajal research position in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Valencia. After a period of over three years as Associate Professor in this university, she is Professor since April 2012. She has written over 75 research articles, most focusing on secondary equilibria using surfactants and ionic liquids, fundamental studies in HPLC, modelling and optimisation in HPLC, countercurrent chromatography and development of analytical methods for pharmaceutical and clinical samples. He is coauthor of the book Ionic Liquids: New Insights and Recent Developments from Elsevier (with Samuel Carda). She is fond of pets and animal protection.
