Education

2001: Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering

Institution: Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy - Department of Electronics and Information

Tutor/advisor: Prof. S. Cova

Final mark: optimum

Major thesis: “Non-invasive wide-bandwidth analysis of integrated CMOS circuits with ultra-sensitive photodetectors”

Minor thesis: “Multibit Sigma-Delta modulator in scaled technology for wireless applications”

The work was carried out in collaboration with IBM T.J. Watson Research Center (Yorktown Heights, NY) and STMicroelectronics (Agrate Brianza, Italy) and related to the modeling of luminescence emission from integrated circuit as well as the use of the Silicon based Single Photon Avalanche Detector (SPAD) to measure fast changing optical signal inside integrated circuits. During the Ph.D. several electrical and optical setups were created.

1998: "Laurea" degree in Electronic Engineering (equivalent to M.S. level degree in USA)

Institution: Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy - Department of Electronics and Information

Tutor/advisor: Prof. A.L. Lacaita

Final mark: summa cum laude (100+/100) Course points: 29.9/30 average, 29/30 minimum

Major thesis: “A new modular approach to the interconnection line capacitance evaluation”

The work was carried out in collaboration with STMicroelectronics (Agrate Brianza, Italy) and consisted in the development of new and more accurate models of integrated circuit interconnect parasitics for better signal simulations. During the work, conformal mapping technque were used to develop new compact models of parasitic capacitance of interconnect lines.
