Auguste Rodin

Born into a poor Parisian family in 1840.  He lived in the center of the art world.  He hated school and dropped out at 13.  The only subject that he liked was art.  He went to a trade school for artists.  He got his first job at 17 making ornaments.  In his spare time, he sculpted.  The Academy of Fine Arts made Rodin make his sculptures look real.  He was influenced by Michelangelo.  His most famous pieces “Gate of Hell”  “The Thinker”  “Hand in Cathedral”.  Died 1917 at 77 yrs. old.
