Course Description

Although I have taught many things from ceramics to yearbook, I currently teach 5 sessions of Beginning Art, which exposes students to a variety of media/mediums. My class mostly focuses on sculpture with a little entry level drawing, art history, and art appreciation.  In the spring, students are offered Beginning Drawing, which exposes them to the technical aspects of volume, shading, shadow, and realistic rendering as well as portraiture. A little painting is touched on as well.

Students who enjoy my beginning classes their 7th grade year, can apply to take Advanced Art for their 8th grade year.  Advanced Art is only taught 1 period, and is enrolled by teacher recommendation.  This course builds upon the skills learned in my beginning classes and takes them to a higher level.  It is a yearlong class and combines art history, art appreciation and studio artwork with applications in drawing, painting, and sculpture.  District and valley art shows and contests are frequently entered by these students.
