In 2008, the G.I. jOE Collector's Club commissioned an ASIAN ADVENTURER ... G.I. jOE, MAN of ASIA. Finally it was the fuzz-head G.I. jOE I had always hoped Hasbro would create but never did.
MAN of ASIA - The Figure
The MAN of ASIA is an offbeat take on the "Man of Action" figure from the 1970's featuring the vintage 1966 Japanese head sculpt from the G.I. jOE Fighting Men - Action Soldiers of the World - Japanese Imperial Soldier only with black flocked hair. This figure also is the first Club figure to feature the 1970's Kung Fu Grip hands!
MAN of ASIA includes:
- black t shirt with stick-on AT logo
- white boxer shorts with printed mini "AT" logos.
MAN of ASIA - UNIFORM SET
A separate uniform and accessory set may be purchased from the G.I. jOE Collector's Club:
- dark green quilted nylon zippered jacket with stick-on AT logo,
- dark blue fatigue shirt with oriental collar and stick-on AT logo and pants,
- black short boots,
- black AT shoulder holster,
- grey and black revolver,
- silver scoped black rifle,
- grey plastic AT logo dog tag and beaded chain.

- The MAN of ASIA figure came from the G.I. JOE Collector's Club sealed in a clear bag with the 2008 GI JOE Collector's Club card in a cardboard mailing box.

The 2008 12" figure continues last year's direction for Club's membership 12" figures. The Club is calling this year's totally new figure the "MAN OF ASIA". This figure is an offbeat take on the "Man of Action" figure from the 70's featuring the vintage 60's Japanese head sculpt with flocked hair for the very first time. FYI: On June 29, 2020 on ebay, the basic Man of Asia figure was for sale starting bid US$ 350.00 plus shipping.
