ADVENTURE TEAM GI jOE
MIKE POWER
SECRET MISSION
The last version of the Secret Mission to Spy Island set was released for "Mike Power - The Atomic Man" .
Spoiler Alert ... because GI jOE already blew up Spy Island and sunk the entire island into the sea , this set was simply called "Secret Mission" (code no. 8030).
EQUIPMENT LIST
- life raft (black inflatable) w/oar (black) ;
- boots ( black short);
- pants (black);
- sweater (black with AT insignia);
- binoculars (red with knobs for attaching the rubber strap);
- signal light (black with yellow lens sticker;
- flare gun (grey unpainted grip);
- camera (black with yellow lens sticker);
- wire roll (black with silver wire);
- cap (black rubber knit hat w smaller size to fit the non-flocked head of Mike Power);
- radio w/ ear phones (green wireless radio; lid plastic closing latch and back plug-in hinges);
- machine gun ( gold and silver with knobs for attaching the rubber strap);
NOTE: As in the later releases of the 'Secret Mission to Spy Island' (code 7411) sets, Mike Power's 'Secret Mission' set does not include the detonator or the TNT sticks and also does not include any comic book.
In 1976, a later version of the "Secret Mission to Spy Island" was available from a comic book advertisement of a mail-in offer with the purchase of "Bulletman - The Human Bullet", Eagle-Eye G.I. jOE or The Intruder and the Hasbro seal proof of purchase.
In the advertisement, this FREE G.I. jOE Super Action Pack included: Spy outfit in black, inflatable life raft and oar, binoculars, radio, signal light and more ...
I have yet to find one of these to learn what the "and more" was in this set.
NOTE: In 2023, I posed this question to a FB GIJOE group and the one response was that the "and more" was ... a wire roll !

GI jOE Adventure Team - DELUXE ADVENTURE SET
Deluxe Adventure Set (code 7480)
The Sears exclusive may well be the rarest box set in the Adventure Team line. The reason for this is unclear, as the companion "Super Adventure Set" turns up with relative frequency.
This box is shown in the early AT catalogs and is not indicated as a store exclusive, but it's rarity points to limited distribution.
This deluxe set included a G.I. jOE Land Adventurer along with three of the 1970's sets: Danger of the Depths, Secret Mission to Spy Island, and Flying Space Adventure.
Notice the different artwork for the Secret Mission to Spy Island.

Cotswold Elite Brigade - Rod: Super Agent
Part Number: GIEDF-C016
Price: US$ 47.99 Out of Stock - SOLD OUT
http://www.gijoeelite.com/f_itemPart.asp?strPart=GIEDF-C016
The Elite Brigade takes the whole "What If" concept into a different direction. 1971 was the year that the action film SHAFT hit movie theaters and was the number one grossing film for five straight weeks that summer. Because Hasbro followed what was hip in the 70s (Kung Fu Grip, the Atomic Man), it only makes sense that they would create a "Private Detective" or "Super Agent" outfit for their Adventurer...thus the reason for our Rod: Super Agent Figure
Set includes:
- African American action figure with flocked hair and goatee and kung-fu-grip;
- Black Turtleneck Sweater;
- Black Leather Jacket;
- Black Leather Pants;
- Short Repro Black Boots;
- Black Repro Holster;
- Black Repro .45 Pistol;
- Black Sunglasses;
- Black Repro AT Dogtag;
- Black Leather Satchel;

Hasbro was not the only 1:6 scale action figure for children at the time. MARX TOYS produced this long-forgotten 12-inch action hero "Mike Hazard ~ Double Agent" long before the Johnny West and the "Best of the West" figures and playsets. This toy was introduced long before these were called "action figures"! "Mike Hazard" was a product of the late '60's secret agent craze.
Mike Hazard came a ton of spy gear.
