GI jOE ADVENTURE TEAM ~ Secret Agent (code no. 7375)

The Secret Agent accessory was released in the early 1970's for the GI jOE Adventure Team. Once more notice how much technology changes in this close up of the brief case. How many kids today know or have even seen a tape recorder? A modern Secret Agent would have a digital voice recorder, or could even just use a cellphone.

The brown trench coat would look pretty silly paired with the Land Adventurer's camo uniform or the Air Adventurer's orange flight suit., so I purchased the 1973 Fight for Survival "Action Outfit" (code 7308-3). The brown shirt and pants are the perfect uniform accessory for the brown trench coat.

EQUIPMENT LIST

- Dark green briefcase;

- Grey Luger pistol with black grip;

THE MISSION

Although this larger accessory set had no Adventure Team comic or 'storyline', a possible backstory for this adventure has GI jOE returning from a clandestine meeting. He prepared for this meeting wearing a mask to disguise his identity and a bulletproof vest in case things did not go to plan. The briefcase he clutches contains a tape recording of the nefarious plot. Also contained in the briefcase is his concealed weapon, just like in the James Bond movie "From Russia with Love". While at a darkened corner, beneath a street light, he backs against the wall of the building to check for enemy agents that may be in pursuit.

GI jOE ADVENTURE TEAM ~~ Infiltration (code no. 7372)

The Infiltration accessory was released for the GI jOE Adventure Team figures in 1971 or was it 1972 (?). It replaced the Karate accessory set in Hasbro's numbering scheme (#7372), which probably means that the Karate set was only available for a very short time before the set was replaced or HASBRO messed up it's numbering.

The cost of this set today on ebay or other sources always gets criticized for the high amount sellers ask for and how few accessories are actually in the set.

On Feb 28 2014, I saw two boxed sets for sale on ebay. One was asking for $835.88 and another asking for $1,490.00

Although this larger accessory set had no Adventure Team comic or 'storyline'. A possible story for this adventure has G.I. jOE outfitted to slip into enemy radar installation to fulfill either a spy or sabotage mission. Maybe it will end up being a little of both!

GI jOE ADVENTURE TEAM ~ Night Surveillance (code no. 7335 ASST 7339)

The Night Surveillance accessory was released in 1975-76 for the GI jOE Adventure Team. The set combines elements from the Infiltration set and the recoloured equipment tester (code 7319-5).

THE MISSION

This larger accessory set did come with an Adventure Team Comic. For this adventure, an unidentified submarine has been lurking near the Alsakan coast. G.I.jOE is assigned to prevent any sabotage of the last stages of the Alaskan pipeline project. Working in the dark and cold of the arctic tundra, G.I.jOE uses the infra-red scanner to search the area. The scanner detects three men approaching. G.I.jOE fires his machine gun into the air and the saboteurs drop their explosives and surrender. The U.S.A.'s winter oil supply will be safe thanks to G.I.jOE!

GI jOE ADVENTURE TEAM ~ Black Widow Rendezvous (code no. 7414 )

The Black Widow Rendezvous accessory was released in 1975-76 for the GI jOE Adventure Team.

THE MISSION

This larger accessory set did come with an Adventure Team Comic. For this adventure, GI jOE is assigned to transport a secret "microdot" film of plans for a new defense mechanism that is stored in a mountain location to Washington. GI jOE enters the storage area of headquarters and suits up - a stealthy black jacket and pants with a sleek silver helmet. Soon after he is transported to the mountain location by another Adventure Team member in the Troubleshooter. On the mountain he is to meet up with the government agent, "Black Widow" to get the plans. Carried by his backpack helicopter, GI jOE cruises low over the mountains. Soon he sees three figures coming up the mountain. GI jOE hides and fires his machine gun into the air to frighten them away. The echoing canyon amplifies the sounds, and the men flee. The spies are apprehended at the bottom of the mountain by an Adventure Team member with the Troubleshooter. Meanwhile GI jOE makes the rendezvous with agent Black Widow (who wears a brown Austrailian style outfit) , and the "microdot" is transferred to GI jOE . Then GI jOE flies back down the mountain using the backpack helicopter, and then the "microdot" is transported safely to Washington thanks to GI jOE! .

NOTE : I wish Hasbro would have used the Air Adventurer instead of the Land Adventurer for the cover art of this set.

1975 ~ GI jOE Adventure Team ~ Revenge of the Spy Shark (code 74113)

The Revenge of the Spy Shark accessory was released in 1975-76 for the GI jOE Adventure Team.

- Grey sonar unit with black handle (repurposed from the magnetic flaw detector);

THE MISSION

This larger accessory set did come with an Adventure Team Comic. For this adventure the government security near the secured rocket site at Cape Hadley appears to have been breached. GI jOE is assigned to investigate a sighting of a shark with what appears to be a camera attached to it's frickin' head . GI jOE locates the shark with his sonar detector unit and is able to remove the camera from the shark with his knife. The shark attacks destroying the inflatable raft and GI jOE kills it with his speargun. GI jOE is in the frigid ocean water and must keep the camera from enemy hands . The Adventure Team helicopter locates his buoy and extracts GI jOE with the camera. Security is restored at the rocket facility thanks to GI jOE.
