Building blocks of galactic civilization, nanites are micron-scale machines that can mimic atoms, fuse and break molecular bonds and link with nearby nanites to increase processing power.

Forged from conorium, an ultra dense, highly radioactive material designed to constantly emit intense levels of ionizing radiation over very short distances. Can disrupt nanites, but dangerous to be unshielded around non-augmented life.
Has a shielded hilt and sheath that blocks all radiation when sheathed.

Composed of specially-designed nanites, these devices can morph into pre-programmed forms, sometimes for convenience (like changing from something worn to handheld), sometimes for different forms. Morphing from one form to another for such devices typically takes a few seconds.
