This rule system is meant to be flexible for any genre of gaming. When I was in the military, my NCO used to say, "you must be flexible to the point of being fluid." At its core, each character is based off of seven stats. Any action they attempt is checked using these stats, modified by their skills. When attacking an opponent, how well you hit affects how much damage is inflicted.
The core mechanic of this game system uses three dice (six-sided), added together and compared against target numbers, and scoring at or above the target needed for success. This range forms a bell curve with 10-11 at the center, symbolizing the spread of abilities in any given population, with the bulk of individual rolls around the center (see the probability distribution of 3d6, each individual result, then the chances of rolling at or above a certain number, in the graphs below).
