Angles

Playing good angles is important all over the field. The game of lacrosse is very much about finding the best angles to take to get to the goal or to keep someone from getting to the goal. The angle you take to control an opponent, to close a double team or to get to the goal, has everything to do with where you are in relationship to the goal. When a player uses her angles correctly, she can save a lot of time and energy and play very efficiently on the field. Team defense is based on taking the right angle to protect the goal and drive the ball carrier away from it.

Key points for playing good angles:

1. Position your body and feet at an angle to take something away from your opponent and not allow her to run straight to the goal.

2. Stay at an angle so your teammates know where they are forcing the ball carrier.

3. Slide at an angle that will put you where the ball carrier is going instead of where she was.
