22-23 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Negotiations

September 2022

September 7:  Tentative Agreement is reached!  

Meeting #5 - Both sides met today with ESTA passing proposals first.  ESTA answered the district's last pass with Proposal #6 1 year and Proposal #6 2 year.  The district responded back with Proposal #6 1 year and Proposal #6 2 year.  The district made no movement in their 2 year proposal based on proposal #5.  The stated that it is their last best and final.  ESTA responded back to the one year proposal with ESTA Proposal #7.  ESTA made a huge movement by dropping the parental leave and the one time money.  The district responded with EUHSD Proposal #7.  They made no movement in ongoing dollars.  The lead negotiators for both sides met together to discuss if there could be a deal reached today.  After that, both sides agreed to the major issues and a TA was reached.  The TA was agreed to and signed.  A member update was sent out shortly after the TA was signed.  

August 2022

August 29:

Meeting #4 - Today was a very full day of bargaining, productive discussions, and passing proposals.  The district passed Proposal #3, #4, and #5 (1 year and 2 year).  ESTA’s team countered with Proposal #4 and #5 and is working on a counter for next week.  The teams meet again on Wednesday, September 7th.  While no deal was made today, very critical discussions occurred today, and the ESTA team made it very clear to the district how important it is for our members to realize the full increase to the cost of living.  A member update was sent out this evening.

May 2022

May 26:

Meeting #3 -ESTA met with the district today.  The district started with the EUHSD Proposal #2 and reviewed with with ESTA.  Afterwards, ESTA discussed as a team and came back before the end of the meeting with ESTA Proposal #3.  The district continues to offer nothing for salary and benefits despite record funding for public education and the advice of School Services stating to use the May revise as the basis of district proposals to its labor partners.

May 11:

Meeting #2-ESTA met with the district today.  Both teams discussed the agreed upon norms.  The district continues to violate the norm that involved emailing its respective constituents and proposed changing the norm to fit their practice.  Discussion followed.

The district made its Initial Proposal - rejecting every piece of language ESTA had in its proposal and in turn, proposed "nothing" for Salary and "nothing" for Insurance.  In addition, the district proposed language asking ESTA to limit and restrict its legal obligations to represent members through the grievance and bargaining process - a startling and hostile approach to the 22-23 contract negotiations.  ESTA's team worked hard and was able to return with a counter (ESTA Proposal #2) before the District had to end Negotiations to attend the Nacho Bar at a school site.   A member update was sent out this evening.  

May 10: EUHSD Public Hearing on Sunshine proposal at School Board Meeting

April 2022

April 27th:  

Meeting #1-ESTA meets for the first time with the district and gives the initial proposal at the beginning of the meeting.  The district never returned with a counter proposal.

March 2022

March 8: ESTA presents Sunshines Proposal at School Board Meeting for 22-23 school year
