The ERAC Working Group on Knowledge Transfer has been established to bring forward an active implementation and take-up of the European Commission's Recommendation on the management of intellectual property in knowledge transfer activities and Code of Practice for universities and other public research organisations.
1. Objective
The overall objective of the group is to improve knowledge exchange within Europe and with Europe's international partners and to make an effective contribution to Europe’s “2020” Innovation Union vision and objectives. To that purpose, the group has two main functions. Firstly, it will act as a strategic advisory body to ERAC on knowledge transfer. Secondly, it will develop relevant initiatives and ensure that these are delivered effectively. Knowledge transfer is broadly defined as the process by which knowledge and ideas are shared and exchanged within the research base and also between research base and industry for societal and economic benefit and scientific progress. It includes but is not limited to the commercialisation of knowledge, research cooperation and mobility of researchers.
2. Composition
The ERAC working group on knowledge transfer, established by the European Research Area Advisory Committee, is composed of representatives of Member States and Associated Countries. This includes policy makers, senior representatives of research and innovation agencies and intellectual property (Patent) offices.
