European Research Area Committee -ERAC
ERAC (European Research Area Committee) is a policy advisory body assisting the European Commission and the Council of the European Union in the field of research, innovation and technological development. The main mission of ERAC is to provide strategic input on any research and innovation issue relevant to the development of the European Research Area (ERA). Its mandate was decided by the Council in May 2010.
ERAC members are the European Commission and Member States of the European Union. The following Candidate Countries and Associated Countries are invited as observers: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Faroe Islands, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Moldavia, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland and Turkey.
ERAC is chaired by the European Commission. The Vice-Chair is elected among Member States. Currently, Mr Krzysztof Gulda (Poland) is holding this position.
