Training Band is the entry point for students who want to participate in Epping West Public School's excellent band program. Children who are Year 3 and above in year 2027 will be eligible to apply for a position in band.

Attend our Band Information Night
Event in August 27th @ School Hall between 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
Complete the Expression of Interest Registration for Training Band
Successful applicants and allocation of instruments will be confirmed by mid of Term 4 and will receive an invoice for an administration fee of $20 and a holding deposit of $120, to be promptly paid within two weeks. These fees are non-refundable to hold position in next year's training band.
There are three bands in the EWPS band program - Training Band, Intermediate Band, Senior Band. It is normal for students to move through these bands at different paces.
All students are welcome to join Training Band and no prior musical experience is expected. However, students are required to meet minimum musical standards to move from Training Band into Intermediate Band, or to move from Intermediate Band into Senior Band or join Big Band.
Students generally demonstrate they have met the required musical standards through auditions at the end of each year.
During the audition, the Conductor will take into consideration the following, but not limited to:
Consistent quality playing during rehearsals
Behaviour and attitude
Preparation / music practice
Punctuality and attendance rate
Final band placements are at the discretion of the conductors.
Training Band to Intermediate Band
Training Band students can audition for Intermediate Band 2027.
TB students will demonstrate they meet the required musical standard through an audition to be held during normal rehearsals from Week 1 of Term 4, over a period of 3-5 weeks, with Intermediate Band Conductor, Christine Pringle making the assessment.
TB Students are required to prepare and play following:
Selected pieces from Accent of Achievement Book - contact Coordinator for details
Own choice of major or minor scale
Own choice of chromatic scale

Intermediate Band to Senior Band
Intermediate Band students can audition for Senior Band 2027.
IB students will demonstrate they meet the required musical standard through an audition which will be held from Week 1 of Term 4, over a period of 3-5 weeks, with Senior Band Conductor, Mike Everett making the assessment.
IB students are required to prepare and play following:
Music piece - Circus Marchimus - please make sure you practice to play along with the music, including tempo
Own choice of major or minor scale
Own choice of chromatic scale
What happens on day of your audition?
You must firsty attend the Senior Band rehearsals at 7:45am;
You join in the SB rehearsals from 7:45am - 9am along with SB peers; and
Conductor will meet you at the end of the rehearsal, from 9am, to conduct the audition

Following the outcome of auditions, students can register online for 2027 Intermediate Band and Senior Band. Link will only provided via e-mail for successful auditions.

The following bonds will be fully refunded depending on the following guidelines.
Music Bond (requires not keeping music sheets or distributing)
Roster Bond (requires parent/s to participate in 3x rehearsal rosters annually)
Instrument Bond (requires return of a hired instrument with no significant damage)
