Auditions for Intermediate Band, Senior Band or Big Band
Auditions in Term 4, 2025!
There are four bands in the EWPS band program - Training Band, Intermediate Band, Senior Band and Big Band. It is normal for students to move through these bands at different paces.
All students are welcome to join Training Band and no prior musical experience is expected. However, students are required to meet minimum musical standards to move from Training Band into Intermediate Band, or to move from Intermediate Band into Senior Band or join Big Band.
Students generally demonstrate they have met the required musical standards through auditions at the end of each year.
During the audition, the Conductor will take into consideration the following, but not limited to:
Consistent quality playing during rehearsals
Behaviour and attitude
Preparation / music practice
Punctuality and attendance rate
Final band placements are at the discretion of the conductors.
Audition Dates for 2026 Bands
Training Band to Intermediate Band
Training Band students can audition for Intermediate Band 2026.
TB students will demonstrate they meet the required musical standard through an audition to be held during normal rehearsals from Week 1 of Term 4, over a period of 3-5 weeks, with Intermediate Band Conductor, Christine Pringle making the assessment.
TB Students are required to prepare and play following:
Selected pieces from Accent of Achievement Book - contact Coordinator for details
Own choice of major or minor scale
Own choice of chromatic scale

Intermediate Band to Senior Band
Intermediate Band students can audition for Senior Band 2026.
IB students will demonstrate they meet the required musical standard through an audition which will be held from Week 1 of Term 4, over a period of 3-5 weeks, with Senior Band Conductor, Mike Everett making the assessment.
IB students are required to prepare and play following:
Music piece - Circus Marchimus - please make sure you practice to play along with the music, including tempo
Own choice of major or minor scale
Own choice of chromatic scale
What happens on day of your audition?
You must firsty attend the Senior Band rehearsals at 7:45am;
You join in the SB rehearsals from 7:45am - 9am along with SB peers; and
Conductor will meet you at the end of the rehearsal, from 9am, to conduct the audition

Big Band
IB or SB students who are interested to be a part of Senior Big Band will require an audition - you are required to play one piece to be advised by conductor and a scale for the audition.

Following the outcome of auditions, students can register online for 2026 Intermediate Band, Senior Band and Big Band. Link will only provided via e-mail for successful auditions.
