Parent supervision of band rehearsals

The Epping West band is entirely organised by volunteer parents. As roster parents, we all have a duty of care to our children with the core responsibilities of band parents/ carers is to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of rehearsals. 

At each rehearsal the school requires three volunteer parent/ carer supervisors who are responsible for:

• Making sure children are accounted for by confirming everyone is present

• Keeping all children safe by stopping any dangerous or disruptive activity

• Applying hygiene measures in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic

• Helping the Conductor focus on music by assisting in managing student behaviour. 

It is mandatory for band parents/carers to supervise a minimum of four (4) rehearsals as a roster parent during the year. This is not just a responsibility - it is a fulfilling opportunity to catch up on how the band is doing, see your child in action, and meet other band parents. The children love having their parents in attendance and showing their musical progress.

Guidelines for Parent Supervision of Band Rehearsals (updated for Covid-19 arrangements)

The EWPS band is committed to providing a safe environment for children. As part of this, all parents/ carers who will be volunteering to supervise children are required to provide information about their suitability to work with children. All parents must complete the form online prior to volunteering with EWPS band.
