The 5 Faib were instructed on how to keep time. They were to record it on metal plates or stone. Daily time was measured based on the location of the sun. For example if the sun was just rising the din (hour) was starting. Each hour was divided into thirds. Back to the example, for the next six hours it was morning, the following six were midday, the last six of sunlight were evening. The night was at first considered as one long unit because of sleep not needing to be kept track of by hour. As populations grew and societies began using "dark" hours, the night (fom) was divided into din like the day time is. The official start of the next day (fim) is when the sun comes up. When referring to fim it means the daylight hours, treat means days as in days of the week.
