Research Expedition at Planetarium Negara, UM, UKM, USIM and UPSI

NIR data collection at UM observatory by Mr Najmuddin

EMRG team went for research expedition from 10th April to 15th April 2022 at Planetarium Negara, Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). This expedition had been joined by Assoc Prof. Ts. Dr Roslan Bin Umar , Assoc Prof Ts. Dr Nor Hazmin Binti Sabri with two master's student from UniSZA and two master's students from UMT.

On the first day, Assoc Prof. Ts Dr Roslan and Assoc Prof.Ts. Dr Nor Hazmin had a video recording for Malaysian Astronomer Programme at Planetarium Negara in the morning. We met with Mr Mohd Fairos Asillam and discussed regarding future research collaboration . After that, we went to UM where we had a discussion with Dr Unku Ferwani Salwa and Dr Norsiah Hashim from Pusat Asasi Sains UM (PASUM) on current research improvement and potential future collaboration. Mr Najmuddin and Mr. Ezzuddin which are UniSZA 's master student had a meeting with Dr Saiful and Dr Raihana for their research progress and improvement. Non Ionizing Radiation (NIR) data collection had been done at four locations in UM. We also visited UM Observatory and Space Optical Lab.

Sharing session by Dr Raihana from UM

On the next day, we went to Planetarium Negara for attending launching ceremony of short video contest on " Kelestarian Angkasa Bertemakan Lindungi Alam Sekitar" by YBhg. Tuan Zainudin Bin Aman, Setiusaha Tetap, Ministry of Sciences, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Sabah. This contest had been held by MOSTI, Planetarium Negara and MOSTI Sabah. A talk on "Kelestarian angkasa " had been given by Mr Mohd Fairos Asillam which provide us with knowledge on space sustainability and their importances. Dr Raihana from UM had a sharing session about method in moon observation. We had an iftar at the lobby of Planetarium Negara with other guest where various delightful foods had been prepared by organizer.

Miss Syazwani demonstrated on ambient NIR measurement to Dr Nurul Shazana

UKM Bangi is our next destination on the third day. We were welcomed by Mr Afiq and Dr Norsakinah Mohamad from Pusat Genius@Pintar Negara UKM. We had a short discussion and exchanging ideas on current research had been done by both parties. NIR data collection also had been done at three locations in UKM which are Jabatan Fizik UKM , Fakulti Seni Bina UKM and Pusat Genius@Pintar Negara. We also had demonstrated NIR measurement experiment to Dr Nurul Shazana Abdul Hamid.

Dr Ifwat Ghazali explained on 3D printing process for production of his research product

EMRG team went to USIM in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan on the forth day. Dr Mohd Ifwat Ghazali had welcomed us at Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) in USIM. Dr Ifwat Ghazali had brought us to visit his SMART RG lab where he shared on his current research and explained to us on 3D Printing Technology which is one of his expertise. he also demonstrated us on designing and simulating antenna by using ANSYS HFSS software. Dr Ifwat Ghazali also recommended us with some reliable sources for antenna design and development. NIR data collection had been done at five locations in USIM.

EMRG team visit MAGDAS station in UPSI

UPSI was the last destination for EMRG team in this research expedition. Mr Wan Zul Adli one of the lecturers from UPSI had welcomed us and accompanied us to visit UPSI observatory lab and MAGDAS station in UPSI. He also brought us to visit his lab. We also discuss on current research improvement and he had assists on simulation of NIR measurement by using cable wire to connect the antenna with spectrum analyser. Assoc Prof.Ts.Dr Shahrul Kadri Ayub had introduced us with his current research regarding optical tweezers. NIR measurement had been conducted at three locations in UPSI.
