Participation of Winter School on Astronomy at Hyderabad, India.

On 21-25 February 2017, one of the member of EMRG (Marhamah binti Shafie) was selected as one of the participant for the Winter School on Astronomy which was held in Hyderabad, India. The workshop organized by the Western University in Ontario, Canada included lectures and training on both theoretical and observational astronomy. The topic discussed including the Introduction to Initial Mass Function of Star Clusters, Planetary Formation Theories, The Search for Life in the Universe and Accretion of Super massive Black Holes, New Horizon Mission and the Binary Black Hole Detection.

The workshop also offered a hands-on session on Python and TOPCAT, a commonly used software in astronomy and astrophysics. Throughout this five day of workshop, participants are able to widen their networking because the participants are coming from various countries. They are able to exchange and share their interest and cultures during each break session. The participants are also given a chance to explore some historical place in Hyderabad which is the Golconda Fort.This workshop has inspired the participants to learn more about astronomy and astrophysics.
