From Elaine herself:
Good art news! This past winter, one of my paintings was accepted into my first-ever national art competition. The 10th Annual National Exhibition, hosted by the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, FL had nearly 800 paintings submitted from all across America and mine was one of the 100 accepted. I was really surprised, honored and pleased with my first effort at that level. My painting, "Bird of Paradise" (photo attached), is one of my personal favorites.
Emboldened by such attention, I thought what the heck, I might as well apply to my first-ever international art show, the 25th Annual International Society of Experimental Artists Exhibition. Not only did I get accepted, I received their "Cutting Edge" Award. The organization had over 400 paintings submitted from around the world. The juror selected 92 paintings for the show and gave 16 awards, one of which was mine. I am flying to Pennsylvania to accept the award. My painting, "The Gather (photo attached), will hang in the Banana Factory Art Gallery in Allentown, PA through August.
As you can see from looking at these paintings, I am experimenting more and more with my art. I still love tradition, representational art, but I also love learning to play with textures and images. I am pretty amazed that I've had such success with these recent major exhibitions and just wanted to share it with you. It is all just a lot of fun!
I also updated my web site recently, www.Elainecharney.com . If you wish to receive an email with updates as I add paintings, go to the site and click on the button that requests Updates.
And subsequently....
I also just sold two major paintings and received my “Master-Signature” level from the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society, too. – And I joined a gallery downtown Sarasota today. It seems my “art-stars” are aligned!
