Juliann (Jules) Schwartz, South Egremont, 347-768-4917, juliann@acorntoyshop.com. Helped us get our house organized. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She was meticulous, with an incredible eye for detail and a clear system that made the whole process feel manageable. She was unobtrusive and worked seamlessly in the background but somehow transformed every space she touched. Jules was also flexible, adjusting to our schedule and priorities without missing a beat. The result is a home that feels lighter, more functional, and much easier to live in. A true pro and a pleasure to work with. (8/25)

NEW (2024): Take the train from Wassaic to GCT and use the new rail connection straight to JFK. The last leg takes less than 45 minutes, involves only 1 connection from Jamaica Station, and costs $13.
It's a few extra steps and a bit more heaving of luggage, but if you need to get to JFK and don't want to deal with traffic, it’s the answer. No parking fees, no traffic. Just trains and planes.

A Metro-North/LIRR "combo ticket" for a trip from Jamaica to Wassaic via GCT costs only $16.25. The fare from Wassaic to Jamaica is from $26 (one-way off-peak + off-peak City Ticket) to $29 (combo ticket valid during peak hours). The AirTrain fare ($8.50 one-way) is paid separately when transferring at Jamaica.
OLDER: There’s only one train from Wassaic.. It either goes direct to Grand Central, or you have to change at Southeast, depending on what time of day.
Once you get to Grand Central, you have several choices — and you do not have to go to Penn station! (Which is the wrong direction, although once there, yes, you can get the LIRR train to Jamaica in Queens. I suppose you can do that, but I never have —to me, it makes no sense.)
Instead, from Grand Central, you can take an airport shuttle bus, a taxi or an Uber. Taxi rates to the airport are fixed, about $55.
Or you can take two subways to the Air Train, which you pick up at Sutphin Blvd in Queens.
There are a couple of different subway route choices that will get you from JFK to the Air Train — I usually take the 6 (going uptown), and change to the E. It takes about an hour to get from Grand Central to JFK via subway and air train.
Sometimes on the weekends, some subway lines are closed for work/repair. There have been at least three I have had to either take a different subway route than I had planned, or pop up and get a taxi. So now I always check the MTA website to see about any line closures.
