Sessions 15-17 Unit Plan Presentation.

Learning Outcomes:

CLO 5253.1 - Offer alternative instructional suggestions and strategies that address the specific needs of California’s diverse student population.

CLO 5253.2 - Identify a clear instructional goal that is related to the English content of the standards.

CLO 5253.3 - Provide the learning in each instructional year that lays the necessary groundwork for success in subsequent English courses.

CLO 5253.4 - Identify the most successful and efficient approaches within a particular classroom so that learning is maximized.

CLO 5253.5 - Assess student progress toward the achievement of English standards and adjust instruction accordingly.

CLO 5253.6 - Balance theory, research, and practice.

Information:

Check List of what your Unit Plan should include:

Must cover at least 10 days of class meetings (two weeks if you meet daily). Daily plans (outlines are fine).

Must cover an entire work of literature: a novel, play, non-fiction book, set of poems, set of essays, set of short stories, or a mixed set (poems, essays, short stories on a particular theme).

Must cover at least ten days total (2 weeks if you meet daily). Daily plans required (in outline form is fine- you may use the five LMU Lessons Formats if you have not already used them in your teaching). I need to see what you are doing and what the students are doing EVERYDAY. Must cover an entire standard or unit such as the Romeo and Juliet (not half of the play). Whatever you start, please finish. Be sure to cover these topics:

Writing Strategies

Reading Strategies

Preformative, Formative, Summative assessments

Into,Through, and Beyond framework

Various levels of thinking/learning

Backwards Design

Socratic Seminar

CLOSE Reading strategy

All unit handouts, assessments, presentations (videos, PowerPoints, websites, etc.) must be included or linked to (Everything you link must be visible or I cannot give you credit for it. Do not share it with me, publish it for the world to see because you won't know how I will be logged in.)

Next Week - Present your unit in a video. Be sure to point out all the highlights of your unit. Tells us what you will be doing and what your students will be doing.

The presentation should be 3-4 minutes.
