Solar System

Early in my astrophotography experience, I attempted planetary photography using my Celestron Nexstar 9.25 GPS and a Neximage video camera. Below are my results. However, I abandoned this part of the hobby after 2006 for several reasons:

1. The skill set and equipment set needed for doing planetary work were sufficiently different from deep sky work that I did not think that, with the limited time I had to devote to the hobby, I would be able to advance both.

2. From the New York area, the ecliptic is sufficiently in the southern part of the sky so that seeing for that part of the sky is rarely optimal. While this is alleviated somewhat in the winter, it's cold!!
