NGC 253 (Sculptor Galaxy)

Distance: 12.8 million Light Years


NGC 253 is the brightest member of the Sculptor Group of galaxies, the nearest galactic group to our own (the Local Group, home to our Milky Way). A spiral galaxy, its arms are partially obscured due to its steep tilt to our line of sight.
