Envision AI Basic Guide
The Envision AI app is available for both iOS and Android devices. To get started:
Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
Search for Envision AI and download the app.
Once downloaded, open the app and sign up or log in to your account.
Envision AI uses the phone’s camera to capture visual information and provides various tools to assist blind and low-vision users. Here are the main features:
Instant Text
Read Text in Real-Time: Point your camera at any text, and Envision AI will instantly read it aloud.
This feature is useful for reading things like signs, labels, books, or menus.
Document Reading
Scan and Read Full Documents: You can scan multi-page documents, such as letters, books, or printed articles.
To scan a document, ensure that the entire page fits within the camera frame, then tap to capture. Envision AI will process the text and read it aloud.
You can also save documents for later reading or share them.
Object Detection
Identify Objects Around You: The app can identify everyday objects like furniture, household items, or even food products.
Point your phone’s camera at an object, and Envision AI will describe it.
Faces
Recognize Faces: Envision AI can help you identify people by recognizing familiar faces.
To add a person’s face to the database, ask them to look directly at your camera. Once their face is saved, Envision AI will announce their name whenever they are detected.
Describe Scene
Scene Description: The app provides general descriptions of scenes by analyzing the environment around you. Point the camera at any scene, and Envision AI will describe what’s in the frame.
Color Detection
Identify Colors: Point the camera at an object to hear its color description. This is useful for identifying clothing, products, or other items based on their color.
Barcode and QR Code Scanning
Scan Barcodes and QR Codes: Use the app to identify products by scanning their barcodes or get information from QR codes.
Using Instant Text
Open the app and tap on the Instant Text option.
Point your phone’s camera at any text (like a sign, label, or book page).
Envision AI will start reading the text aloud as soon as it detects it.
Reading Documents
Tap on the Document option to scan full-page documents.
Hold the phone steadily above the document and capture the page. The app will guide you to position the camera correctly.
After scanning, Envision AI will process the text and read it out loud. You can also save the document for future use.
Recognizing Objects
Tap on the Detect Objects option.
Point the camera at the object you want to identify.
The app will describe the object in front of you.
Recognizing Faces
Tap on the Faces option.
Add familiar faces by pointing the camera at a person and saving their profile.
The app will notify you when that person is in view.
Describing Scenes
Tap on the Describe Scene option.
Point the camera at any environment (e.g., a room or a street).
Envision AI will analyze the scene and describe what’s happening.
Color Identification
Tap on the Color Detection option.
Hold the camera over any object to hear its color.
Envision AI offers offline text recognition, allowing you to use the app’s core reading features without an internet connection.
However, some features like scene description and object recognition require an internet connection for more accurate results.
Glasses Integration: Envision AI supports integration with Envision Glasses, allowing you to use the app’s features hands-free.
Text Export: After reading a document, you can export the text to a file, share it via email, or save it to your device.
Lighting: Ensure that you are in a well-lit environment when using the camera for reading or object detection to get more accurate results.
Hold Steady: When scanning documents or detecting objects, hold your phone steady for better results.
Reposition the Camera: If the app doesn’t immediately recognize text or objects, try moving the camera slightly for a better angle.
