Ava App Basic Guide
The Ava app is available for both iOS and Android devices. To get started:
Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
Search for Ava: 24/7 Accessible Life and download the app.
Open the app and sign up or log in using your email address or phone number.
Ava provides real-time captions for spoken conversations by transcribing speech into text, allowing users to follow discussions more easily in group settings, meetings, or one-on-one conversations.
Real-Time Captioning
Open the Ava app and start a conversation by tapping the Start Captioning button.
Ava will listen to the surrounding conversation through your phone’s microphone and transcribe the speech into text on the screen.
You can adjust the text size for easier reading by going to the Settings menu.
Group Conversations
To capture conversations in a group setting, open Ava and tap Start a Group Conversation.
Invite participants by sharing the conversation link via messaging apps or email, or have them join by scanning the QR code displayed in Ava.
Each participant can use their phone’s microphone to contribute, and Ava will transcribe everyone’s speech into the shared conversation view.
One-on-One Conversations
Start a conversation by tapping Start Captioning and simply hold your phone to allow Ava to transcribe the other person’s speech in real-time.
You can speak back by typing into the chat box, and the other person will see your message.
Ava allows users to customize their experience:
Change Caption Language: Ava supports multiple languages. To change the language, go to Settings > Language, and select your preferred option.
Voice Preferences: You can add your own name and voice profile so that Ava will display your name when transcribing your speech. This helps in group conversations to distinguish speakers.
Themes and Text Size: In the Settings, you can choose a light or dark theme for better visibility and adjust the font size for easier reading.
Save Transcripts: At the end of a conversation, you can save the transcription for future reference. The app will store the conversation history within the app for easy access.
Share Transcripts: You can share the transcript with others by tapping on the Share button and choosing the method (email, messaging apps, etc.).
Ava is particularly useful for meetings, lectures, and larger group events:
Connect Multiple Users: Participants can join the conversation using their own devices, allowing Ava to transcribe different speakers accurately.
Live Captions on Screen: Ava can display live captions on your phone, tablet, or even stream the captions onto a larger screen for the whole group.
Ava works best with an internet connection to provide fast and accurate transcription. However, in some cases, Ava offers limited offline functionality for smaller conversations.
Ava for Accessibility at Work
Ava offers specialized features for work environments, allowing users to integrate captioning into meetings, conferences, and presentations.
Ava Scribe Service: For enhanced accuracy, Ava provides a professional scribe service where human transcribers ensure higher accuracy for important meetings or events.
Ava provides both a free version and premium plans that offer additional features such as:
