Spring 2015

Office Hours: By Appointment
Course Description
This course instructs on the submission of portfolio and thesis work including journal publication, conference presentations, contests and competitions, video submissions, public performance venues, etc. Identification of venues, creation of presentation materials (video, poster, short papers, abstracts, etc.) and submission requirements are covered, with the goal of every student having public disclosure of portfolio work.
The distinguishing mark of graduate research is an original contribution to knowledge. You may develop projects (animations, games, etc.), computer programs, prototypes, or other tools as a means of proving your points, but remember, the work is not about the tool or project; it is about the contribution to knowledge. Public disclosure of this contribution is an important facet of graduate work.
Course Purpose:
Work developed over the course of the graduate curriculum is represented in the thesis project, and this course explores ways to push that information into the public realm.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, the successful student will have submitted thesis or portfolio work to one or more public presentation venues.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Students will learn to understand how to get their work published and how to present their work to specific audiences.
