This is the island/region wherein Mike Kirk's long-running campaign has taken place. The island is a hotbed of undead and extra-planar activity with a dark history.
The Isle of Mists, aka the Dead Isle, is so named because of the strange fog that constantly surrounds the island. It is rumored that this fog can pull people from other dimensions to the island but no one outside of the island has ever been able to confirm this theory. It is called the Dead Isle by those who live there due to the inordinately large number of undead that infest the island. In fact, undead rule most of the island with the living holding only a few remaining strongholds. The island is shaped much like a kidney bean slightly on its side. The primary human settlement on the island is the port city of Manatheran. It sits on the southern edge of the island and is protected by the Pillar of Aethorin. If you follow the Symbal River north you will eventually reach the Dead-Head Swamp. The swamp currently lies over the remains of the village of Tharen, which was destroyed during the Divergence. To the west of the city is a large lake known as Waalim's Tears. The lake is said to be the resting place of Sir Waalim. The depths of the lake contain the ruins of the city of Rest. The area around the lake seems to be a particularly large hotbed for undead activity. Far north of the lake is a sacred grove of trees. It is the last such grove on the island and is guarded jealously. Along the western edge of the island lies what remains of the Gohm mountain range. The Gohm mountains were once home to the dwarves but none have been seen coming from the mountains since the Divergence. Slightly to the east of the swamp is Deathrattle Keep. The keep has been claimed by undead forces as seems to serve as a base of operations for them. On the far eastern edge of the island is Mount Illian. This volcano was thought dormant but is still active. While it has not erupted for quite some time the mountain still smokes. The volcano is bordered on the northern and eastern sides by the sea and the Bone Desert on the southern and western edges.
