Modifying Access
By default, course sites are made available to students on the first official day and remain available for 14 days after the official end date. Instructors can provide access sooner or extend access beyond the standard 14 days. To modify access, do the following:
Click on Customization
Click on Properties
Modify the Start and/or End Date(s) under Course Duration
If you are extending access in the case of an Incomplete, it is recommended that you post an announcement explaining the temporary change in availability to reduce potential confusion for the other students. Alternatively, you can make the course site available for select users while limiting access of the others. To do so:
Click on Users and Groups
Click Users
Click on the Go button (may need to clear or click twice in order to show all students)
Use the drop-down to select Change User's Availability in Course. Change from 'yes' to 'no'.
Repeat last step for each student who does not require extended access
PLEASE NOTE: Textbook integration is separate and requires modification as well.
General instructions (check with publisher for specifics):
Sign in to website (cengage.com, pearson.com, etc)
Select “My Courses”
Locate your course section
Select “Edit Section”
Put in the new end date
Select “Save”
Student subscription access will expire when it expires, so be sure they are aware that just because you are extending access to the course site, they may need to extend their textbook subscription.
