Exporting Content
We need to periodically remove older course sites from Blackboard to make room for newer ones.
Although we mass archive deleted courses in the event that it is necessary to retrieve information for official records, you are welcome to save your content offline to reuse later. You can export all of the content at once or choose to export only specific pieces such as grades.
Below are directions for various options:
Course Content:
Go into the course site, click on Packages and Utilities, and then click on Export/Archive Course.
Click on the Export button and select the materials you would like to export. Click Submit, then click OK. In a few minutes, you will receive an email stating that the course has been exported.
Return to Packages and Utilities > Export/Archive Course again. You will now see a file called ExportFile_Course ID_DateAndTime.zip.
Right-click on the file and select Save Target As… to save the file locally. This is a special Blackboard zip file that can later be imported into any Blackboard system.
Grades Only:
Go into the course site, click on Grade Center, and then click on Full Grade Center.
Click on the Work Offline button and select Download.
Select the data you want to download (likely want to leave all defaults as is) and click Submit.
Click on the Download button to save the file locally.
Tests Only:
First, export the test from the current course:
Navigate to the course that contains the test.
Click Course Tools in the Control Panel.
Click Tests.
Click the arrow to the right of the test name.
Select Export.
Save the file to the desktop of your computer.
Next, import the test into the course of your choice:
Navigate to the Blackboard course you will add the test to.
Click Course Tools from the Control Panel.
Click Tests, Surveys, and Pools.
Click Tests.
Click Import Test
Click Browse My Computer.
Click Submit.
Last step is to deploy the test in the active course:
Navigate to a Content Area (Assignments, Course Documents, etc.)
Click the Assessment button.
Select Test.
Click the name of the test you imported.
Click Submit. This takes you to the Test Options page.
Check Yes next to Make the Link Available.
Review/modify available settings and options.
Click Submit.
