Character Creation
Step 1:
Pick a Vice, a, Virtue, a Nature, and a Demeanor. See the Archetypes page.
Step 2:
Apply attribute dots. All attributes start at 1 dot. You get three groups of dots to apply to the three different groups of attributes (mental, physical, and social). They are 7 / 5 / 3
Step 3:
Apply Skill dots. All skills start at 0. You get three groups of dots to apply to the three different groups of skills (mental, physical, and social). They are 13 / 9 / 5
Note, you can't make a skill more than 3 with the skill points you assign. You can only make a skill higher than 3 with freebi points.
Step 4:
Apply Skill Specialties. You get three at character creation and they can go wherever you wish.
Step 5:
Apply Merit dots. You get 8 at character creation. Apply flaws if you have them, flaws give you freebie points, see below.
Note fighting styles are paid for each maneuver and not just in total. For example Street Fighting is all maneuvers. Depending on what you want it shows the cost. It's not 2 dots for both Duck n' Weave and Knocking the Wind out. For both of those it would be 3. The prices for maneuvers are listed next to them.
Step 6:
Choose your clan. Apply your clans bonus Attribute and your 3 discipline dots to your in clan disciplines of your choosing.
Step 7:
Spend freebie points. Freebie points are used to round out your character. Freebie points are not XP. You gain 15 and can have up to 7 additional depending on flaws to spend and purchasing things with them cost the following:
Attribute dot - 5
Skill dot - 2
Merit dot - 1
Skill specialty - 1
Discipline - 7
Step 8:
Finally, refer to "Basic Derived Statics" under Mechanics and total those.
