Stream Adjudication

According to the Wyoming Judicial Branch:

A general stream adjudication is a legal proceeding to determine all water rights on a river system. The Big Horn River basin is located in Northwest Wyoming within the boundaries of Wyoming’s Water Division 3 and encompasses Fremont, Hot Springs, Washakie, Big Horn, Park and parts of Natrona and Johnson Counties. The Big Horn River General Adjudication has been the forum in which the Tribes of the Wind River Indian Reservation (the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes) have had surface water rights confirmed. Other rights, including federal non-Indian and state permitted water rights, have also been determined in this adjudication.
