Bookclub

Book club continuing and ideally running an older kids book club parallel to it. Ideas for older kids book club include making newspapers, animation, or board games about the book that was read, anything fun and age appropriate

The next picture book club will be on Tuesday, 18 March, 1-3pm. Ballephehane Community Centre and will be a special one for celebrating all things Irish. Janet found the perfect book, The Night Before St. Patrick's Day. (http://www.bookdepository.com/Night-Before-St-Patricks-Day-Natasha-Wing/9780448448527

)

It is written like the Night Before Christmas. You can buy the book for €3.02 on the book depository or watch it read on youtube. It's not in the libraries. Janet has agreed to do the craft this month, big thanks.

Also, Maedhbh has agreed to bring along her fiddle, big thanks to you too, I may try my hand at the bodhran, any irish dancers want to strut their stuff? Any tin whistle players? Bagpipes? Storytellers? How about some scones and soda bread to share? We'll definitely be having a set of Shoe the Donkey, the easiest set dance ever!!! And anything else people can come up with.

There will be an extra special book club in March as well, in the woods. It's the best place for fairy forts, treasure hunts and clever leprechauns! Full details to follow. For that book club I'll be using the book The Story of the Leprechaun (http://www.bookdepository.com/Story-Leprechaun-Katherine-Tegen/9780061430862)

Reminder, Book Club is on Tuesday, 18 February, 1-3pm, €4 per family, Ballephehane Community Centre. The book this month is Jack and the FlumFlum Tree by Julia Donaldson. Heather and some of the other moms are working on the patchwork sack, exciting!!! Anyone else want to get involved in the preparations, set design, craft idea?? Leah and I will attempt the Gruffalo Shadow puppet show again, with a working flashlight or even better, possibly a purpose built set!!!! All ideas are welcome, as if it's going to be sustainable it'll have to be community run. Below is Julia Donaldson reading Jack and the FlumFlum Tree. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8DDVCx3W_M
