Shared Space and Resources

Gordon spoke of possibility of booking rooms in UCC for free or cheap. One room he mentioned might work for hosting events with mixed ages is two separate rooms with adjoining door

Venues and spaces were discussed. This is a major topic and idea. So much of what we were talking about comes back to space. The participants at the meeting and others from email and facebook feedback are interested in looking into the possibility of a private shared space, a learning centre of sorts. As this topic is so huge, we only touched upon it and decided that between now and the next meeting people who are interested in getting involved in exploring this idea write out precisely what it is they are looking for in a shared space, what their needs are. We will discuss it further at the next meeting and set up a task force to research different ways of going about making it happen.

The question of insurance came up, as some venues and events require it. (ie, renting the Quaker House in the summer and Paddy's Day Parade). If we are going to proceed with getting an insurance policy it begs the question, who are "we". Follow up with HEN to see what their insurance policy covers for members was suggested. Deirdre will talk to Cuidiu to see how they get their insurance. Gordon will call some insurance companies to find out more

Book/information/skill swap. Teachers have 'teacher rooms' where they share ideas and resources. Collectively we are the richest, most able school in the world if we can tap in to each other

Gordon has a large collection of BBC dvd's that he will catalogue and burn for people at a low cost, €1-2, for shipping cost and cd cost

Kirsty mentioned interest in setting up a Democratic School and there was interest in that. This will be discussed at the next meeting regarding shared space
