Emails From Fans

While I’m not the National Wildlife Federation, I do occasionally receive emails from fans of Ranger Rick who have been most grateful that this archive of Ranger Rick was online for them to browse through. This is the Ranger Rick they grew up with and remember and were pleased to see him again.

Below is just a small sampling of the messages I’ve received over the years this site has been online.

“Thanks for sharing this Adam. It is too bad Dad isn't around to see this wonderful site.” – Judy and Sandy Thompson, daughters of Lorin Thompson

“I stumbled onto your site by accident and thoroughly enjoyed myself, having been a long time RR fan myself. I used to have quite a collection of the Ranger Rick magazines; hundreds, including the first copy and some very hard to find hardbound years from the NWF.” – Lawrence C.

“I do appreciate your hard work. I stumbled upon your Photobucket account one day, and then shortly thereafter found Classic Ranger Rick. I was looking for pictures of Scarlett Fox, knowing that art of her is rarer than Ranger Rick. That dead loon pic was really the whole reason I went searching for issues again in the first place. It stuck out so much because you almost never hear about dead animals in the stories. It was almost too much for me to bear, but it was also the one story that made me want to take action. Even though I never fished so I was never in a situation to put that knowledge to use (but at least I got in the habit of cutting the 6-pack plastic holders so fish wouldn't get stuck in them). – Kye F.

“Stumbled across your site, and was pleased to do so. I also grew up reading RR, and adoring, in particular, Alton Langford's illustrations. I'm a professional artist myself now, and I still count classic Ranger Rick as a big influence.” – Dana S.

“I wanted to applaud your effort in gathering the Ranger Rick materials – no small task!!! I think that the older we get (I’m 50) the more we value the childhood elements of our lives that meant something. So we search for them to perhaps stave off the aging process (?) Getting kind of deep here! Anyway, that’s what brings value to what you’re doing with the Ranger Rick archival effort. Even more so, the value of your work with those with special needs is beyond measure.” – Keith M

“Just a quick note to tell you how much I like your website! I am an environmental educator at a local nature preserve and have found the magazine to be a wonderful resource. I prefer the older issues because they focus on animals that I am more likely to see here in the United States.....not to mention the beautiful illustrations, more comprehensive information, etc. My collection is slowly growing and hopefully one day I can build a nice collection like you! :)” – Andrea A.

“I found your website for Classic Ranger Rick. I have all of the copies I ever received as a kid from the early 80's through 1990 I believe. I loved these magazines and read every copy over and over.” – Matt R.

“I just wanted to say that your site is great and brings back many memories. My grandmother bought me a subscription to RR for many years when I was growing up and it certainly influenced my view of nature and the environment. I have many fond memories of reading the stories in RR magazines and trying the different activities and your web site brought those memories back!” – Mark N.
