Calendar from 1977

Found in the December 1976 issue, the calendar given to readers was half artwork, half cover art. On one side, you have a huge photo of a raccoon resting his head on the ground, with the Ranger Rick logo at the top, as if it was an extra-large magazine cover. On the reverse side, you had the actual calendar with images drawn by Ranger Rick artist of the time, Lorin Thompson.

The layout had a huge header of all the current residents of Deep Green Wood: Ranger Rick, Cubby Bear, Ollie Otter, Chester Chipmunk, Wise Old Owl (yes she was a regular recurring character until the 1980s), Terry Turtle, Bobby Beaver, Zelda Possum, Becky Hare, Sammy Squirrel, Max Mouse, Morgan Mockingbird, Odora Skunk, Pudgy Porcupine (not Punky), Davey Deer, and Frances Flicker. In each month of the calendar, Thompson added a small drawing of the characters in their activities around Deep Green Wood.
