General Meditation

Purpose The purpose of this meditation is to become more in tune with a particular God/Goddess. If you have just started working with pantheons this is a great way to get to know each God/Goddess more intimately.

(1) The first thing to do is research the God/Goddess you want to work with. You might want to consider the history, archeology, or mythology of your God/Goddess. I like to look at mythological stories and find the symbolic or hidden meanings in them. While researching your deity, you could also photocopy pictures and objects that you find interesting. If you want, you may also want to compose a chant or poem for your God/Goddess

(2) After you've finished your research, place the objects on your altar and cast a circle

(3) Depending on what you've chosen as your focal point, each meditation is going to be different. If your studying the personality and imagery of a God/Goddess, you could concentrate on the symbols you have photocopied. If your studying a mythological story of particular God/Goddess, you may want to perform a play in your meditation temple . If you have written a chant/poem for your God/Goddess, you may want visualize yourself chanting or singing to that deity

(4) After you have finished the meditation, sit in the presence of the God/Goddess and see if he/she has any messages for you.

(5) Close the circle and ground yourself.
