Rev. Paul Madariaga

Priest of Anubis

Initiated 2006 -

Rev.Paul Antony Madariaga (Akhetnu) has been a member of the CES since 2002, and an ordained priest of Anubis since 2006. His Egyptian pursuits include the reconstruction of ancient temple rituals, investigation into ancient Egyptian philosophy and theology, and comparisons between the Instructional wisdom literature and eastern ethical systems.

Paul attended the University of California at Irvine from 1995-1999, where he majored in Film, before joining the U.S. Army Reserve as a Psychological Operations Specialist. He served in Iraq from May 2003 - March 2004, where he created over a hundred leaflet designs that were distributed in the tens of thousands throughout Baghdad. Among his other works were comic books for the children of Baghdad that were later used as teaching aids for English and Arabic in the local schools.

In 2005, Paul began work on an ancient Egyptian fantasy film, which is currently in postproduction. It was filmed in the style of Indonesian shadow puppetry, using a backlit papyrus screen and Egyptian themed characters, combined with computer generated hieroglyphs, backgrounds and effects. The intent is to convey the viewing of a story on a living papyrus scroll.
