Rev. Marilee Bigelow

Priestess of Sekhmet

Initiated 1990-

Marilee Bigelow was born and grew up in San Diego, California. Her father was a contractor, and when she was very small she would rummage through the lumber scraps left by the carpenters, and build from them ancient temples and altars. She was too young to play with matches, but she remembers the offerings being wafted up to the Gods, in dense, cloudy, billows of incense smoke, as she conducted her rituals. This is before she had any experience with Egyptian books or films.

She had become deeply involved in studying Wicca with a number of eminent teachers, and in the early '70's met Michael Poe. She eventually began studying the Egyptian religion formally with him, receiving her initiation as a Priestess of Sekmet-Bast-Ra in 1982, and achieving ordination in the Church of the Eternal Source in 1990.

She has lived in Northern California since 1991, and is the proprietor of Star Fire Herb Co., specializing in exotic, and medicinal quality essential oils. She currently teaches classes workshops, and seminars, in these and other related subjects. In addition to her already active schedule, she consults, and writes articles for various publications.

She studied Anthropology and Archaeology at Mesa College and in 1981 she researched medicinal herbs for her Archaeology Field Services Project. She studied with the Taoist Sanctuary in San Diego, and with the California School of Herbal Studies in Forestville, receiving her Herbalist Certificate in 1985. In 1986, she received her Certificate in Aromatherapy, from Kurt Schnaubelt, and also received several Certificates from the Phyto-Aromatherapy Institute where she studied with Dr. Jean Claude Lapraz, M.D.

She previously served as the Secretary for the American Aromatherapy Association, and has formerly served on the Board of Directors for both the American Aromatherapy Association, and the International Phyto-Aromatherapy Association. She is now a contributing member of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.
